YourLUME gets a finer education Outdoors

Portland, Oregon, ? YourLUME (yourlume.com), the Portland based online retailer dedicated to supporting outdoor causes, announces partnerships with Nevada Outdoor School (NOS) and Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS).

These organizations support the new and ever-growing research that shows a direct correlation between exposure to nature and children's improved physical and emotional health. Sometime this means taking a group out on a hike to research ponds, streams or underneath rocks. Other times it's bringing the outdoors in with school programs.

"It's always great to see kids discover more about their surroundings and themselves in the process? said Steve Eshbaugh, Executive Director of Montana Outdoor Science School.

Programs like the ones offered by NOS and MOSS are critical to communities. They offer a place where learning becomes a real life adventure. Classes for the students include academic activities such as geology, orientation, astronomy, and hiking. Students are able to come face-to-face with live animals such as snakes, turtles, salamanders, owls, hawks and many others. And in addition to the academics, it's a time for growth. A time for students to meet personal challenges, learn to work together and develop trust in others.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to showcase Nevada Outdoor School's programming to the diverse group of outdoor enthusiasts who are coming together at yourLUME,? said Andy Hart, Executive Director of the Nevada Outdoor School. "Inspiring people to be outdoors for the betterment of themselves and their communities is at the core of our mission which fits nicely with the aspirations of the great people who have created this new online resource."

YourLUME's non-profit partnership program, shareLUME, currently works with eight non-profit partners. The organizations that have partners with yourLUME share their mission to protect and revitalize the environment as well as educate individuals in reducing their impact on the earth. "We are fortunate to be working with NOS and MOSS, as well as our other non-profit partners. We look forward to supporting the great work they're doing and continue searching for other organizations that share our mission? said Sandy Ragnetti, Marketing and Business Development Director for yourLUME.
